Ensiferum - Iron (Black Lagoon)

Oh man, yesterday's review was some utter bullshit. How in the hell did I came up with such ridiculous comparisons & conclusion x] But forget it, today's will be worse. Cause it's Black Lagoon, sunshine. Drink up the booze, load up your guns. You ain't gonna die today.

If you'd like to see how the term trigger-happy looks like, this clip is just the thing to watch. Revy's smile is one of a kind, especially while shooting lead all around the place. You start to wonder if it is just so much fun? Wait, actually something came to my mind now, but even I don't dare to make such a comparison... However, it's all because Black Lagoon stinks of Tarantino all over. It's a stink of blood and irony. Death is a joke, so chill out. You don't wanna die today anyway.

The trick behind this AMV is that every piece it consists of is of the same, hardcore attitude. The music theme rocks hard, the choice of scenes is explosive, and the editing effects applied are vulgar, but appealing. No compromises. And it does not slow down from the start until the end. Which, by the way, has another nice trick of a dying eye - cool idea.

I don't know why, but this offensive attitude always looks good on the screen. Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Fight Club etc. all don't give a damn about the viewer, and don't try to please him with what he thinks would please him. Instead, they hit him hard with a hammer. 'Don't fcuk with us!' - that's their message. Surprisingly the viewer realizes it's what pleased him the most. Thus I say - stop giving people what they claim they need. Web 2.0, peoples' choice? Bullshit. That was called communism and luckily died back in the days. Give them what you know they need, it will be soon after they realize that was what they wanted.

Black Lagoon is just such a series, where you would like the plot to go differently, and at first hate the producers for not making it you way. But afterwards you just can't imagine how it could be different and better. It's perfect the way it is. This AMV continues that trend, and on top of it, takes what's the best of both seasons. I just so love it. But enough of this crap, go watch it. This is what you want. This is what you need. I know that. I just do.

Flesh Field - Voice of Dissent (Ergo Proxy)

Now, this is a strange one. I mean, Ergo Proxy is just such an artistic series. It's a great AMV material. Then why can't I find tons and tons of amazing Ergo Proxy music videos? It does not make sense at all, now does it? Or maybe... Just maybe, it is too difficult. Like making a mix clip of Marylin Manson. Now this figure has one sick imagination and the same amount of promotional staff, resulting in completely psychedelic creations. Thus, show me a better fan made video than Mr. Double M have made. Tough task, ain't it?

However, I somehow got my hands on this short piece, that to be honest blew me the first time I watched it. And it blew me good. Like, after 10 seconds. Whatever feelings I get after watching it over and over again, I still remember the first time's thought of 'damn, that's it!'. When I think of the cause, it's definitely the music, and the starting scenes. Just look at Real, her expressions, her fear, just there in the first frames. And her tears. And the guitar riffs. Well, damn me, but this is such a perfect choice. Then is the fast paced part, concluded by a slowed-down female vocal. Another instant-love part. Notice the awkward synchronisation - at first it looks disturbing, but then it somehow turns out to be very sensible.

The feel of this clip is one of a kind. Maybe, just maybe... it's the mirror 'awakening'? The proxy inside you calling to be freed? The hidden ego that wants to burst into the real world. Or maybe, just maybe... it's a normal AMV. A one damn good music video. Either way, it's a pure hardcore clip, and I mean seriously - hardcore. No bullshit devil emblems, no emo rebels, just the dark side as it is. The Real, dark side...

And damn me, we're in for a one amazing AMV Weekend...

Ain't Dead Yet

So it really looks like it was a months-long silence... shame. However! don't despair, cause it seems like my free time is back. And judging by the material I piled up during this month, the upcoming weekend will be the best AMV Weekend up to date.

Oh, and I have added some useless stuff like email subscriptions that will bring the new posts straight to your mailbox (link on the right, does it even work?), and at the very bottom of the page a rotator of random anime music videos from YouTube. I wonder when will they enable people to rotate only through their favourites. That for example, would give you a nice sneak peak on my new finds or things worth watching at least once (but maybe not worth reviewing ;p).

Anyway, YouTube still sucks. Anyway again - stay tuned.
